Issue Project Room is an experimental music and visual arts space located in Brooklyn, New York. Their raison d'être is to give contemporary avant-guard musicians and artists a platform for expressing their visions. In many ways, IPR represents the front lines of contemporary music and performance-based art.

The idea behind this logo design is to take scores and scores of musical notation symbols and throw them into a coherent rearrangement that is stable/unstable, traditional/contemporary, old language/new language.  The logo represents the creation of a new graphical/musical language, one that is based on a traditional musical language, but uses contemporary tools to transform and skew it in the hopes of arriving at something genuinely new and interesting.

Roughly 96 different musical notation symbols were used to create the final composition which contains over 3,400 symbols piled on top of each other. The logo was created programmatically using custom software. The details are only really visible in hires, so be sure to check out that version.
