Loquendi is a France-based company that teaches foreign languages to businessmen and women who often find themselves traveling to far-away lands in the name of their company. Learning a foreign language is generally a fairly long and slow process, but one that's full of discoveries and enriching opportunities. As a teacher of foreign languages, Loquendi wanted a website that conveys a sense of journey and discovery, progress and accomplishment.

The site takes as its theme the metaphor of a voyage on an exotic sea. It is designed horizontally to further the notion of a long voyage where the user is always making forward progress as he/she navigates the site and discovers the company and the process of learning a foreign language. The extra-ordinarily long seascape image (10,000px wide) also reinforces the spirit of discovery, nuance, and overall richness of the journey. An effort was made to keep the user-experience continuous and without any breaks (such as page loads), so as to further add to the feeling of a continuous journey. Heavy use of XML, AJAX, and jQuery were used towards this end.

The seascape was initially drawn in marker on paper and measures approximately 5ft (1.5m) in length. It was later scanned in and reworked digitally.
